Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  • Black Male Graduating High School Senior Residing in Metropolitan Denver area
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 Scale
  • Has a need for Financial Assistance
  • Shows potential to successfully handle college/university responsibilities
The Holmes/Omega Scholarship Foundation had a very successful year in 2015. The foundation awarded a total of $12,500 in scholarships. $7,500 was awarded to young men who are in the 4 year scholarship program and another $5,000 was awarded to outstanding high school seniors in the Denver Metropolitan area who are planning to attend college. The high school seniors who were recognized at the Scholarship Award Reception and received funding are as follows:

Two of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Nationally Mandated Programs are sponsored by the Holmes/Omega Foundation. Local participants in the International Essay Contest and the Talent Hunt programs were awarded $200 for their outstanding message and their superb performance during Chi Phi’s Achievement Week activities. One of the essay participants, Kniamiayah Wilson went on to win at the 8th District. Other essay participants who received the $200 award were Mya Green and DeTuan Williams. The guests who attended the Talent Hunt Exhibition were entertained by an extraordinary instrumental from Joseph Pearlman, an inspiring musical selection by Maleka Cotton, and uplifting poem from Jordan Davis.
The Holmes/Omega Scholarship Foundation sponsored the Scholarship Award Reception and the Omega Leadership Academy’s Awards Program. This event was held at the Mile High United Way Center on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The purpose of the event was to give public recognition to the Holmes/Omega Scholars and to the outstanding youth who participated in the mentorship program of the Omega Leadership Academy.
The primary fund raising activity for the foundation was a competitive golf tournament at the Murphy Creek Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The event was held on Friday, July 31, 2015, with a shot gun start of 8:00 am. There were 44 golfers who participated in the tournament and the event grossed over $7,000 for the scholarship fund.
